There's in fact a lot in our name!
Before we had a name or a logo, we already knew what we would like to offer everyone - a sense of togetherness, a community and great Korean food.
During the summer months, when the world felt uncertain with covid, our family spent long afternoons in our garden brainstorming ideas for a name.
We decided that we would like a meaningful Korean name for our shop.
Even though it would be unfamiliar to everyone at first, we thought it'd be special for people to know at least one Korean word through our shop.
(It’s also why many of our dishes on our menu are listed by their original Korean names.)
And then we found it - Moiim 모임.
We laughed when we came up with it because the word literally means a gathering or meeting of people who come together for a shared purpose or activity.
What better word for our place offering Korean food to people in Liverpool!
We are not quite done yet.
Next came our logo.
We often receive compliments about it, and people ask who designed it.
That person is none other than the fabulous* daughter of Moiim!
Have you noticed the double "ii" in our name?
This was done intentional to symbolise the gathering of people.
And then came the colours.
We wanted Moiim to give a feeling of:
Welcoming 반가움.
Cosy 따뜻함.
Heartfelt 감동.
So we chose orange.
A beautiful colour that is eye-catching and also warm.
We hope this is what you feel the moment you step into Moiim.
A little gathering that we created with amazing Korean food!
